Join us for this weekly drop in storytime for kids ages 3-5. This storytime weaves the development of language and listening skills into a fun-filled program of read-alouds, flannel board activities, music, movement, and rhymes. Special focus will be placed on school readiness skills such as the alphabet, counting, and following directions. At the end of each session children will have the option to participate in open play time with the library's special toys.Please note that the sessions on 9/28,10/5 and 11/9 will be held in the children's program room not the Jay Johnston Community Room and space may be limited on these dates.

Calling all homeschooled tweens! Do you like to ask questions? Lots, and lots of questions? Do you like finding answers? In this program children ages 9-12 will pick a question of their choosing to dive into and learn how to present their findings. Along the way we will learn research skills such as how to find sources online and in the library, how to take notes, and how to cite sources. On the last day of the program participants will have a chance to share their knowledge with their families. Final projects will be displayed in the children's room display cases for the month of December.

Then TAB is for you!We are forming a Teen Ambassador Board!Meet with the Teen Librarian on the last Monday of each month during the school year to join this exciting opportunity for middle schoolers and high schoolers to get involved, speak up about what you want to see from your community, and learn more about what you can share with our library!Registration is preferred.Not already a Teen volunteer? This interactive workshop will introduce participants to several artificial intelligence apps to explore their varied uses. Together, we'll discuss how AI can streamline daily tasks at work and at home, while also recognizing the ethical and environmental implications of this technology. We'll also discuss the responsibilities that AI companies have in keeping its users safe and what we can do protect our personal information.Amy Weiss is an associate professor of Judaic Studies and History at the University of Hartford. She recently received a 2026 Teaching and Learning Grant on AI from the University of Hartford's Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation. The university also named her an AI Faculty Facilitator, tasked with creating a professional development workshop for faculty. During the 2025 - 2026 academic year, Amy served as the lead faculty fellow for the Humanities Center's Honors Seminar, where she taught a two-semester course titled "AI in Action: The Future of Humans." She holds a certificate from the Generative AI: Technology, Business, and Society Program at Stanford University and a PhD from New York University.

Adaptive storytime will offer families of neurodiverse* children ages 3 -10 an engaging storytime in a small group setting. During this mixed ability storytime you can expect interactive stories and songs, social narratives, visual schedules, fun with fidgets and props, and time for free choice play and caregiver socialization. Activities will generally fall within a preschool to grade 1 interest level.* Neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one "right" way of thinking, learning, and behaving. The word neurodiversity is often used in the context of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as other neurological or developmental conditions such as ADHD or learning disabilities (Harvard).
