Join us for a celebration of Peter Marzano’s newest book! He’ll have new stories to share, fresh slides, and do a short reading for the audience. About The Black Sea Gambit The Black Sea Gambit plunges Interpol agent Brian O’Sullivan into a deadly race across Europe when his infant daughter is kidnapped and his love partner, Nina von Scholz, is taken hostage. Still recovering from a heart attack, Brian follows a trail from Rotterdam to Kaliningrad to Sochi, where the captives are held by ruthless operatives linked to Ivan Sokolov—a powerful FSB agent, art dealer, and Brian’s half-brother. As whispers of a covert Kremlin plot to seize Crimea emerge from the shadows of Gelendzhik Palace, Brian and Erick join forces with a new CIA team for a high-risk rescue aboard the oligarch-owned superyacht Catherine the Great. But every move draws him deeper into a world of deception, divided loyalties, and impossible choices —where one mistake could cost him his family and help ignite a war. Fast-paced, emotionally charged, and steeped in international intrigue, The Black Sea Gambit delivers a tense, cinematic thriller about blood ties, betrayal, and the price of survival in the dangerous days before history turns. Peter J. Marzano, the son of Irish and Italian immigrants, was born in New York City’s artistic neighborhood, Greenwich Village, and grew up on Staten Island. After attending Staten Island Community College, he worked for the NY Telephone Company and completed a four-year trade union apprenticeship. He then began a career in sales, sales management, and project management with divisions of General Dynamics, United Technologies, and AT&T, and later as VP of Sales and Marketing for an industrial company in New England. His work spanned forty-five years, during which he traveled nationally and internationally for twenty-one of those years. In 1997, while with AT&T, he received a Master’s in Management from Cambridge College in Cambridge, MA. Marzano is the father of four and grandfather of eleven. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Kathleen (Coyle), for over 53 years. When he isn’t writing, Peter enjoys golfing, family and wildlife photography, and playing cards and chess with grandchildren. He and his wife live in Durham, Connecticut. Please regsiter, so we can set the community room up with appropriate seating. Books will be for sale at this event.

Agatha Christie's Disappearance, as seen in Pop Culture (virtual)

Join us for a lively presentation and conversation with Kemper Donovan, host of the All About Agatha podcast.  We’ll explore the many incarnations, representations, and interpretations of Agatha Christie’s disappearance in pop culture: film, literature, theater, etc. Which versions seem plausible? Which ones are outlandish? We’ll discuss, evaluate, and even rank these interpretations with audience input. All About Agatha is a podcast all about, well, Agatha. Agatha Christie, of course: the Queen of Crime, a real-life Dame of the British Empire, and author of sixty-six mystery novels that spanned the Twentieth Century, defining a genre. For five years, Catherine Brobeck and Kemper Donovan revisited these novels in publication order, ranking them according to pre-set criteria (plot, character, etc.). Tragically, Catherine Brobeck passed away at the end of 2021. She will be forever missed. Since then, Kemper has completed the podcast’s ranking project, and continues to celebrate the greatness of Christie by attempting to solve the ultimate mystery where she is concerned. Why Christie–and Christie alone–endures as powerfully as she does. Kemper Donovan is also an acclaimed author, who is currently writing the Ghostwriter Mysteries for Kensington Books (The Busy Body, Loose Lips, Sweet Spot), with a fourth installment on the way at the end of 2027. A graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School, he worked at the literary management company Circle of Confusion for a decade before transitioning to writing full-time. He is a member of the New York Bar Association, PEN America, and Mystery Writers of America. He lives with his husband and daughters in Los Angeles and can be found online at KemperDonovan.comThis is part of a series of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s disappearance.
