Tea and Tarot Sessions with Jade Rose, Lauren Howie, Shannon Earthtree and others from Mountain Gate Tea House Seating is limited; please sign up here in advance.  This program is free, but donations are welcome. Tea Ceremony is a perfect elemental art. Silently, we drink tea from ancient trees grown in reverence. In this special space we give the water, fire and tea leaves a chance to communicate with us in their subtle and silent tongue. Old growth trees have been taking in sunlight, rainwater and starlight for hundreds of years. Drinking tea from their leaves in a ceremonial space allows us access parts of our heart which we usually cannot reach.  This practice pairs perfectly with tarot. After the tea ceremony (three bowls of tea in silence), we draw cards for the entire group and then for the individuals present who want personal readings.  Tarot card reading is like looking at oneself through the clarifying reflection of an intuitive friend. In these sessions, you are invited to participate as Jade, Lauren, Shannon and others interpret the tarot cards you draw from their deck. Tarot is not about reading the future or divining destiny. The cards are a set of elemental archetypes so ancient and true that we find ourselves magnetized to those that speak to our present situation. You will leave this session feeling honored and held in reverence. A practice of tea ceremony and tarot can allow you to feel reconnected to your intuition. The elemental realm is already working on your behalf to create what your higher self desires. When we listen to the heart’s wisdom, we open to following the water course way toward what is in our highest potential.  Jade has been a student of tarot for over twenty years. She is the author of three books on the subject. She has been teaching meditation since she was eighteen. She has found tea ceremony to be one of the most profound and yet easy-to-enter methods of meditation. Join us on the first Tuesday of every month for an online gathering of words, wit, and wisdom! The brainchild of the Talking Gourds Poetry Club, each Bardic Trails poetry night will feature an award-winning guest poet sharing their new and exciting work. The featured poet for this month is 2022 Fischer Prize finalist Carolyne Wright! Carolyne Wright's most recent books are Masquerade, a memoir in poetry (Lost Horse Press, 2021), and This Dream the World: New & Selected Poems (Lost Horse, 2017). Recipient of a Pushcart Prize with work appearing in The Best American Poetry, she has nine earlier books and chapbooks of poetry; a ground-breaking anthology, Raising Lilly Ledbetter: Women Poets Occupy the Workspace (Lost Horse, 2015), which received ten Pushcart Prize nominations; and five award-winning volumes of poetry in translation from Spanish and Bengali. A Contributing Editor for the Pushcart Prizes, Carolyne lived in Chile and traveled in Brazil on a Fulbright Grant; on her return, she studied with Elizabeth Bishop at the University of Washington. Carolyne returned to Brazil in 2018 for an Instituto Sacatar artist's residency in Bahia. A Seattle native who teaches for Richard Hugo House, she has received grants from the NEA, 4Culture, and the Radcliffe Institute, among others. A Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to Brazil took her back to Salvador, Bahia, in mid-2022; with another two months in 2024. We'll follow Carolyne's reading with Q & A about her work and inspirations, with time afterwards for poetry sharing from attendees- a Gourd Circle of sharing whatever poetry you wish or just listening in. Professional artists, architects, and builders, will be on hand for inspiration and to teach life skills— such as how to use a circular saw, drill and hammer. Express YOUR creativity through this exciting design build process! You’ll be named on the sculpture plaque as a creator on the final art to be on permanent display. Tea and Tarot Sessions with Jade Rose, Lauren Howie, Shannon Earthtree and others from Mountain Gate Tea House Seating is limited; please sign up here in advance.  This program is free, but donations are welcome. Tea Ceremony is a perfect elemental art. Silently, we drink tea from ancient trees grown in reverence. In this special space we give the water, fire and tea leaves a chance to communicate with us in their subtle and silent tongue. Old growth trees have been taking in sunlight, rainwater and starlight for hundreds of years. Drinking tea from their leaves in a ceremonial space allows us access parts of our heart which we usually cannot reach.  This practice pairs perfectly with tarot. After the tea ceremony (three bowls of tea in silence), we draw cards for the entire group and then for the individuals present who want personal readings.  Tarot card reading is like looking at oneself through the clarifying reflection of an intuitive friend. In these sessions, you are invited to participate as Jade, Lauren, Shannon and others interpret the tarot cards you draw from their deck. Tarot is not about reading the future or divining destiny. The cards are a set of elemental archetypes so ancient and true that we find ourselves magnetized to those that speak to our present situation. You will leave this session feeling honored and held in reverence. A practice of tea ceremony and tarot can allow you to feel reconnected to your intuition. The elemental realm is already working on your behalf to create what your higher self desires. When we listen to the heart’s wisdom, we open to following the water course way toward what is in our highest potential.  Jade has been a student of tarot for over twenty years. She is the author of three books on the subject. She has been teaching meditation since she was eighteen. She has found tea ceremony to be one of the most profound and yet easy-to-enter methods of meditation.
