The digital world can feel overwhelming to all of us. This class is designed to introduce students to the basics of using computers. The class assumes no prior knowledge of computers. Students will learn the differences between types of devices (desktop, laptop, tablet, phone), how to use basic functions of a computer and troubleshooting tips for common issues.The class meets weekly for four consecutive weeks, with three sessions that are instructor-led and cover material on the given topic and a fourth session that is conducted as an open lab for students to ask questions, take proctored exams, or get more information.If you already have an email address, please come prepared with your email address and password to log into your email account. Learn the basics of machine sewing and create a simple project. First, we will teach you how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine, and navigate the interface of a computerized sewing machine. Then, you will learn basic stitches. With these skills you can make any number of simple sewing projects at the makerspaces at East and Sand Creek libraries, as well as Library 21c. No previous experience required. All materials and equipment will be provided. Ages 9 and up. Makerspace classes can fill up quickly, so it is best to register close to when registration opens. If you are unable to register for this class, you can find other sewing classes at all three makerspaces. All participants must have their own library card. Please contact one of the makerspaces for more information.

Start your 3D printing and designing journey with PPLD! We will find free printable objects online as well as learn the basics of creating projects using Tinkercad, a free, online 3D design software. No previous experience required. Ages 9 – 12. After completing this badging class, you will be able to use the 3D printers on your own during open hours at the makerspaces at East and Sand Creek libraries, as well as Library 21c If you are unable to attend this badging class or would prefer not to attend in person, a virtual badging option is available. This class is only for tweens ages 9 – 12, however we have Tinkercad & 3D printer badging classes for ages 9 and up as well. You can find other Tinkercad classes for teens, adults, and seniors at all three makerspaces. An adult guardian will need to be with the participant in the makerspace at all times. All participants will need to have a makerspace waiver signed by an adult guardian in order to attend this class or use the makerspace. The signer must be present and show an ID to complete the waiver. Please set up a free Tinkercad.com account before attending. Tinkercad accounts for minors may take several days for Autodesk Inc. to process, so please create the account after registering. PPLD has no control over Tinkercad accounts. All participants must have their own library card. Please contact one of the makerspaces for more information.
