BLDG 61 is so lucky to have 3 lasers available to the public. Make a tool appointment to use one of our lasers during this time. Please watch the Laser Orientation Video before arriving if you are new to laser cutting. The 120 Watt is for experienced laser users only, please book our 75W or 40W laser if you are new to laser cutting. The 40 W laser is the only laser with the capability to use the rotary tool and etch on round surfaces. All three lasers operating at once is loud! Please be prepared to wear hearing protection.

Presented by: STUDIO 24 Maker in Residence Heather Shulte at George Reynolds LibraryWhat to do with leftover synthetic yarn? While plant and animal fibers are bidegradable, we all know plastics are a forever problem. This workshop will teach you techniques to use even the smallest of yarn bits to make new artwork, textures, or felt-like material. We can make sure those plastic bits stay out of the waste stream WHILE we get creative. MiR Heather Schulte will demonstrate how to card synthetic yarn into fibrous fluff, which can be used to "paint" like watercolors, when applied to a felt backing. We will use irons to lightly fuse the material. Hand or machine sewn embroidery will finish off the pieces, with detailed line work and shading. We will also learn how to make pompoms with larger yarn scraps, make longer lengths of yarn using small knots, and discuss additional ways to reuse our scraps. POETIQ JUSTIZ, directed by Crista Noel, is an annual poetry slam competition dedicated to the memory of Rekia Boyd and a celebration of the campaign for justice started by her brother Martinez Sutton. 2020’s filmed commemoration features Alycia Kamil (Poetic Justice Winner 2019), Martinez “Jesus Bother“ Sutton, Trezo, Demireo, Taylore Norwood, Jonathan Williams (Poetic Justice Winners 2019), Ric Wilson, and Sa Les. RACIALLY CHARGED: AMERICA’S MISDEMEANOR PROBLEM, directed by Robert Greenwald, exposes how our country’s history of racial injustice evolved into an enormous abuse of criminal justice power. 13 million people a year – most of them poor and people of color – are abused by this system. Through first-person accounts of those charged under the Black Codes of the Reconstruction era paralleled with the outrageous stories of people trapped in the system today, the film brings to light the unfolding of a powerful engine of profits and racial inequality.FLAME is a music video directed and recommended by Katrina Miller, a powerful community voice in film, racial justice, and uplifting the marginalized and misunderstood.This event is organized by a community partner and hosted by the Boulder Public Library.Leading up to the election, the Boulder Public Library invites all community members to rediscover the history and importance of voting in our country through our fall Democracy Series. From interactive storytimes to insightful workshops, this engaging series will foster community connections as we navigate this election year together.

BLDG 61 is so lucky to have 3 lasers available to the public. Make a tool appointment to use one of our lasers during this time. Please watch the Laser Orientation Video before arriving if you are new to laser cutting. The 120 Watt is for experienced laser users only, please book our 75W or 40W laser if you are new to laser cutting. The 40 W laser is the only laser with the capability to use the rotary tool and etch on round surfaces. All three lasers operating at once is loud! Please be prepared to wear hearing protection.

BLDG 61 is so lucky to have 3 lasers available to the public. Make a tool appointment to use one of our lasers during this time. Please watch the Laser Orientation Video before arriving if you are new to laser cutting. The 120 Watt is for experienced laser users only, please book our 75W or 40W laser if you are new to laser cutting. The 40 W laser is the only laser with the capability to use the rotary tool and etch on round surfaces. All three lasers operating at once is loud! Please be prepared to wear hearing protection.
