You have a life story; Guided Autobiography can help you tell it! Join our Beginning Guided Autobiography group; you'll find prompts to help you write your story, a supportive community of listeners, and discussion and practice of writing techniques. No prior experience is needed! This is a four-part weekly series running from Monday, December 1st to Monday, December 22nd, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Register here to attend and please aim to attend all four sessions.   Please bring paper and a writing implement or your preferred method of writing to class.

Join us for a hands-on 90-minute medallion workshop teaching traditional weaving with pine needles with Indigenous maker, Ellissa Thompson. Ellissa Thompson (Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma) grew up in the Bay Area, where she was always drawn to the beadwork worn by powwow dancers and the aunties around her — intricate pieces that carried beauty, tradition, and story. When the COVID-19 pandemic moved her work and school life online, Ellissa chose to deepen her relationship with beadwork — turning a budding passion into both a livelihood and a way to stay connected to community. Along the way, she’s found deep support and learning in the beading circle at Intertribal Friendship House Oakland, in the wider Bay Area Native community, and with her relatives in Chickasaw Country. This program is hosted by Woodside Library, but will take place at Horse Park at Woodside. The Horse Park at Woodside is located at 3674 Sand Hill Rd. The confirmation sent closer to the date of the program will provide further instructions and directions.

Do you have a reluctant reader? Sign your child up to have their own session to practice reading with a therapy dog at the library. Studies show that children who may not want to read in front of their peers are much less anxious with an animal present. Children don't perceive animals as judgmental, and reading to an animal helps them become more confident readers. We’d like to thank our partners for making this possible: Pet Assisted Therapy teams and their handlers from the Peninsula Humane Society & the SPCA's Paws for Tales program. Registration is required and space is limited, so register early for your 10-minute slot.

Baby Bounce Storytime

Baby storytime centers around parent/caregiver-child interactions. This storytime is developmentally appropriate for newborns and babies up to 18 months old. Please join us for rhymes, lap bounces, singing, instruments and a book or two.
