The Old World Carolers have compiled a library of archived music from throughout Europe, going back to medieval periods through the Renaissance and into the Victorian era. They research and sing in many languages, this year from England, Wales, France, Germany, Spain, and Sweden. An additional offering this year is the Ukrainian carol, Nova radist stala, “Joy on Earth Now Appearing.” The concert includes a singalong portion, with lyrics and sheet music distributed to follow along as songs are introduced. The Carolers’ music also incorporates some midwinter rituals and traditions, such as the Swedish tradition of Sankta Lucia (Saint Lucy), where a lighted procession with song precedes the coming date of Christmas, also celebrated in other Scandinavian countries, Italy, and the Caribbean; and the French Saint Nicolas, another early arriver in advance of Christmas. Many of the songs connect to historical events in their traditions.

Stillness & Story: Conversations on Death A complimentary gathering to gently explore the realities of death, dying, and loss through embodied practices, mindful reflection, and shared storytelling. This 90-minute community-inspired event will offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where participants are invited to engage in open-hearted conversations about one of the most universal yet often unspoken aspects of life. The evening will open with gentle somatic movement and simple standing stretches, designed to ground the body and ease us into meditation. From there, participants will gather in small groups for meaningful dialogue, guided prompts, and reflective journaling—bravely opening space for tender conversations about the realities of death. Whether you are simply feeling called to explore this theme more deeply, navigating a recent loss, or curious about support in end-of-life care— you are welcome here. The gathering will be hosted by Radiate Teacher AJ Connors & Radiate Community member Christian Noto, with support from Radiate. During this special sound bath, you simply lie on the ground in a comfortable position and allow yourself to be guided in breath and receive the healing sound waves created through a variety of musical instruments. Sol Rio cultivates a deeply meditative environment by blending sounds from both electronic musical instruments (keyboard and synthesizer) and traditional instruments (gong, crystal bowls, chimes and even the trumpet), offering a safe space for introspection and healing.
