Join us from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the EE Makerspace above Art From Scrap for Crafternoons. Cost: $8 per person. Crafternoons offer fun creative projects every week for kids ages 5 and up. Grown ups stay and play- adults must remain with their child during the workshop. (We use hot glue guns and the Makerspace is upstairs.) We can’t wait to see you soon at a Crafternoon!

Each session begins with a cozy story time, followed by interactive, nature-inspired activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and connection with the natural world. The workshops include: Tuesday, June 16: Nature Art & Patterns – Explore patterns, colors, and textures using natural materials like leaves, flowers, shells, and twigs.  Tuesday, June 23: Building & Engineering – Create bridges, towers, and fairy houses while discovering how nature works together.  Tuesday, June 30: Sensory Exploration – Scoop, pour, sift, and sniff your way through a rich sensory experience.  Tuesday, July 7: Nature’s Rhythm – Explore sound and rhythm using natural materials.    For children ages 3–5 and their caregiver. Join SBPL and Explore Ecology for this free hands-on, family gardening class in Franklin Elementary School’s culinary garden. This program teaches gardening and garden vocabulary in a fun and interactive way. Each session is designed for parents, caregivers, and children to participate and learn together. This program is best for children 5 years old and up, but younger siblings are welcome. Meet at the entrance to the Franklin Garden on Soledad Street. Show the beach some love! Join Explore Ecology for a cleanup on the 2nd Sunday of every month at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at beautiful Arroyo Burro Beach. Meet in front of the Watershed Resource Center (blue building) to sign in. You are welcome to bring your own clean up supplies or use ours. Cleanups will be self-guided and can include the beach, the parking lot, or the open spaces surrounding Arroyo Burro. Be sure to visit the Watershed Resource Center during cleanup hours  to see interactive displays about local watersheds from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Participants will receive a coupon for a free cup of chowder from the Santa Barbara Shellfish Co. Community service volunteer hours are available for this fun outdoor volunteer opportunity. There’s no need to RSVP- you can just show up. We can’t wait to see you there!
