Come join San Jose Food Not Bombs, South Bay Mutual Aid, and Silicon Valley DSA Mutual Aid Working group for a garden and build day this Saturday at the San Jose Peace and Justice Center (SJPJC)! We will be moving soil, planting plants, garden maintenance, and working on the drip irrigation! Be sure to bring gloves, a hat, earplugs, sunglasses, and sunscreen! If you have tools like a shovel, they will be needed! Location Details San Jose Peace & Justice Center Parking Lot 48 S. 7th Street San Jose CA 95112 Parking There is street parking and parking garages close by on 4th street. Do not park at the Grocery Outlet they will tow your car. Public Transportation Bus: 7th & Santa Clara (Rapid 523, 64), San Carlos / 7th (22, 23, 66), San Fernando & 7th (72,73) Light Rail: Santa Clara Station – Blue and Green Line Train: San Jose Diridon Station – take Rapid 500 to Santa Clara / 6th or 22 to San Carlos / 7th Wheelchair Accessibility We will mostly be working outside the Center itself in the garden. To enter the Center itself: There is a wheelchair lift to access the 1st floor behind the building past the gate. Please ring the doorbell next to the lift for assistance. Inclusive free self defense training from 6 pm to 8 pm Wednesday evenings starting January 15th. Training is conducted with a philosophy of non-violence, focusing on how to counter attacks with movement, compliance, and control. This is a 3 month trial with limited training spaces. Currently there are 3 spaces available. Please email [email protected] to register. Training space is assigned in the order of email received. If you do not make the first group, you will be put on a waiting list. Training is continuous, meeting weekly to practice, with the intent to make the motions natural. Because of this, there is no problem starting the training mid session. Disclaimer: Because training spaces are limited, a training spot will be given to the next person on the waitlist with either one no-call/no-show, or 2 trainings missed.
