Silent Sundays at the Playhouse continue September 27th at 2:30pm with Wings starring Clara Bow, Charles ‘Buddy’ Rogers, and Richard Arlen! Spectacular aerial sequences and amazing cinematography helped garner this World War I period film two Academy Awards including the first ever Best Picture Award in 1929. Directed by World War I fighter pilot William Wellman, Wings’ aerial scenes were unlike any that had ever been seen before and set precedent for other aviation movies that followed. The military helped bring Wellman’s vision to life by providing planes, equipment, and thousands of military extras. Accompanying the film on our Mighty Wurlitzer theater pipe organ is Mark Herman. An American Theatre Organ Society Organist of the Year, Mr. Herman tours throughout the country and has performed abroad in Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Our series concludes with Safety Last! starring Harold Lloyd on October 25th. Tickets are $12. There are two ways to purchase tickets: 1) In person– Visit the Playhouse Box Office Thursdays from 3:00pm-7:00pm or day of show starting at 1:30pm. 2) Online– Click the ‘Buy Tickets’ button.

The City of San Gabriel presents the 11th Annual Dumpling & Beer Fest in the historic Mission District Friday evening, October 2nd from 6:00pm-10:00pm. San Gabriel’s twist on Oktoberfest, the event will feature a craft beer garden, food vendors, live entertainment, and kids arts & crafts. Blending live performances, heartfelt stories, and Andrew Lam’s signature wit and humor, this concert offers fans a rare opportunity to experience classic hits and memorable moments in an intimate setting. Designed as a boutique concert experience, the evening features live music and engaging conversations creating a unique atmosphere that celebrates the enduring legacy of Hong Kong music and entertainment. Our season of Silent Sundays at the Playhouse concludes October 25th at 2:30pm with Safety Last! starring Harold Lloyd. Featuring one of the most iconic images in cinema history (Lloyd hanging off the hands of a clock on the side of a skyscraper), Lloyd plays a small town gentleman who moves to the city in the hopes of finding a successful job so he can marry his sweetheart. A stunt to draw attention to the store he works at takes a turn and comedy and suspense ensue above the streets of Downtown LA. The City of San Gabriel presents the Fall Fun Festival Friday evening, October 30th from 5:00pm-9:00pm. Take a family picture in our lobby, Trunk or Treat along Mission Drive, enter the little ones in the costume contest, play games, and visit the Haunted Zone (ages 12+) at Grapevine Arbor Park (324 South Mission Drive).
