Gem Painting is taking the crafting world by storm. It’s the perfect mixture of paint-by-numbers and mosaic art, without the paint! Instead, tiny gems make a beautiful pattern and sparkle in the light. Gem Painting is a recurring series that invites creative makers to gather in the same place on a regular basis. If you are interested in participating, attend the first Friday of the month where canvases will be provided, and then drop in on the dates that work for your schedule so you can work on your masterpiece. Participants are not required to attend every session, but we will only be accepting new participants on a monthly basis. As this project aims to gather creative makers in the community, each participant's gem painting materials will be labeled and held at the library until the month is complete. Check the schedule below for when we will provide canvases to new participants and when we will only allow pre-existing participants to drop in. December 5, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM -- Canvases available for new participants December 7, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM -- Drop in for pre-existing participants. New canvases will not be available at this session. December 12, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM -- Drop in for pre-existing participants. New canvases will not be available at this session. December 14, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM -- Drop in for pre-existing participants. Please plan to join The Friend's of the Half Moon Bay Library on Saturday, December 6 for a very special book sale in the library's community rooms. In the holiday boutique area we’ll be featuring a selection of like-new hardback and trade paperback books, as well as an assortment of unique, collectible books that will make perfect holiday gifts. These will be priced accordingly. The regular book sale will be running concurrently with the holiday boutique. As usual, most of these books will be priced at $3 and below.

Open Sewing

Join us for open time to use the library’s sewing machines. Bring your own project or use some of our supplies to make your own. There will be no formal instruction, but assistance will be provided for the machines if necessary.

Saturday Storytime

Come along on an imaginary adventure for Family Storytime. Hear new stories, sing songs and learn wiggles that the whole family can enjoy together, from toddlers to grown-ups.

Chen-style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is widely acknowledged as the ancestor of all other styles of Taijiquan. This class will introduce the Chen-style Taijiquan form, Silk-reeling Exercises and Wuji Qigong. The Chen-style Taijiquan form is soft and graceful with strong rooted stands that will help students to develop strength, balance, coordination and an understanding of basic Taiji principles. Silk-reeling Exercises are a series of spiral movements which promote muscle relaxation and flexibility by reducing physical tension and strain. Wuji Qigong (standing meditation) will help students to cultivate internal energy (qi) with proper body alignment for better internal energy flow, which will enhance their immune systems and reduce physical and mental stress.

Family Storytime

Join us for a fun and interactive story time! Enjoy 15 minutes of captivating stories followed by 15 minutes of imaginative play. Perfect for young children to develop a love for reading and creativity!
