Buddy up with a furry friend and read aloud from your favorite book! Practice your reading skills and build up your self-confidence reading to a patient and furry listener.  This program is for children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade. Parents are asked to remain in the library during the 20-minute program. Registration opens the 3rd Monday of the month. Children must register for this program in-person at the Children’s Reference Desk, and may register for one reading session each month. This month the Cupertino Library Adult Book Discussion Group will talk about the Silicon Valley Reads selected novel, Unlikely Animals by Annie Hartnett. (2022)  Emma Starling returns to Everton, her small New Hampshire home town to be with her father, diagnosed with a rare brain illness, which causes hallucinations. Emma and her father seem to be the only people in town still concerned about Crystal, Emma’s best friend since High School who has become a drug addict and disappeared. Emma was rumored to have been “born with healing hands” a gift that has done her little good in life, especially as she’s working as a substitute grade school teacher after having recently been expelled from medical school. Nevertheless against the odds, Emma’s return to Everton sets a much needed miracle in motion.  The Adult Book Discussion Group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 11 am and on the third Thursday at 7pm, in Room 201B. Adults of all ages are welcome. All meetings are sponsored by The Friends of the Cupertino Library. This program is part of Santa Clara County Library District's celebration of Silicon Valley Reads.
