Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) is a private, non-profit medical school in Fort Smith, Arkansas, focused on training compassionate healthcare professionals through programs like the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM) and schools for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Master's of Public Health, and Master's of Science in Biomedicine. This tour is for students in the 11th or 12th grades. Lunch is provided at no cost to students. This trip is limited to the first 35 students who register, with priority given to  Mrs. King’s nursing services students. Return permission slips to Mrs. King or Ms. Dean. FAFSA Night is THE opportunity for students and their parents or guardians to complete FAFSAs with expert help. Due to processing time, please ensure that the student AND their parent or guardian have created a FSA ID at least 5 days before the event.  Seniors will have the opportunity to create FSA ID in Mrs. Farmer's class before FAFSA Night but may not have completed it. This is a bring-your-own-device event. Please locate and make plans to bring your 2024 taxes. Also, please see this link for a full list of things to gather for FAFSA Night. Where do I register for the ACT? ACT registration must be completed at act.org.  The regular registration deadline for the April ACT is March 6. The late registration deadline is March 24. Late registration incurs additional fees. What is the ACT? The ACT is a college entrance exam that is used by most colleges and universities. It is used to measure high school students’ readiness for college-level classes. ACT is about what CONTENT students understand. It is different from the ACT Aspire and the test that replaced the ACT Aspire, the ATLAS test. When should my student take the ACT? That depends on your student. Eighth or 9th graders with the following characteristics should consider taking the ACT: Academically focused student with excellent grades who finds school easy Scores exceeding on all subjects on the ACT Aspire or ALTAS Is highly motivated to attend college It might be a good time for students to take the ACT if they have one or more of the characteristics above as long as they are comfortable making an average score for their grade. The median ACT score for a 9th grader is about a 15. We also require 10th graders who want to take Academic Concurrent Credit classes to have a qualifying ACT score to take those classes. Students must take the ACT in 9th grade to qualify for those courses with an ACT score. Juniors and seniors benefit from taking the ACT for academic scholarship consideration and for placement in college classes. How can I prepare for the ACT? Students also have FREE access to Methodize Test Prep through Xello. Find out how here. Can I register for FREE? Yes, juniors and seniors who are on the Free & Reduced School Lunch Program are eligible for up to two lifetime ACT waivers. To find out if you are eligible, email Ms. Dean at [email protected].
