You’ll design a striking botanical artwork using layered pressed florals that capture the essence of the desert in a fresh, modern way. All materials are included, featuring mint and seasonal blooms harvested from the instructor’s Arizona garden. Because everything is gathered in real time, blossoms will vary—making each finished piece completely one-of-a-kind. A curated selection of frames will be available so you can complete your work with a polished, display-ready finish. This is a highly hands-on creative experience designed for small groups. I was drawn to art beyond being content to just appreciate it, but during my working career making time for art seemed a luxury to be put on hold for the future. Somehow I found jewelry making and fell in love with it. It enabled me to work with color, design, and texture, it was a great stress-reliever, an outlet for my creativity, and it nurtured my soul. When I became a member of an artists’ co-op in Colorado Springs, I was constantly admiring the work created by the glass artists there, and one day one of them offered to teach me how to fuse glass. I was hooked. Creating fused glass art has taught me to appreciate all art even more than I did before. It is always a learning experience. But when everything goes right, the end result brings me joy and nurtures my soul, as I always hope it will for those who see my art. Learning, enjoying and creating art is an ongoing journey. We begin early with a guided walk around the renowned Cactus & Succulent Garden, learning secrets and stories along with Henry. Then, we’ll move into a propagating and caretaking workshop, where each participant will take home their own succulent after learning about the best tips and strategies for care.
