Sunset Hike (East District)

Hike up the Tanque Verde Ridge trail to get fantastic views of the sunset in the park. This hike is 0.5 miles round-trip on rugged terrain. Water, hiking shoes, and trekking poles are recommended. 

Please park at the Javelina Picnic Area located along the park's scenic loop drive, then meet at the Tanque Verde Ridge trailhead.

Night Comes Alive (East District)

Half the park is after dark! Join a ranger in the evening hours as night-prowling creatures begin to emerge. This is a 1-1.5 mile hike, and location varies. Regardless of program location, always meet at the Rincon Mountain Visitor Center. We recommend bringing your own flashlights, especially red lights or black lights.

Ranger-led Hike (East District)

Join a ranger for a 2-hour hike to explore the beautiful Sonoran desert and learn about the native plants of Saguaro National Park! This hike starts at the Mica View Picnic Area, and will be approximately 2 miles with minimal elevation gain.

Explore Saguaro National Park after dark at our Star Party! Drop in any time from 7pm to 9pm to view the night sky on telescopes run by the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association and participate in ranger-led activities such as a scavenger hunt through our cactus garden w......More

Explore Saguaro National Park after dark at our Star Party! Drop in any time from 7pm to 9pm to view the night sky on telescopes run by the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association and participate in ranger-led activities such as a scavenger hunt through our cactus garden with a blacklight. This event has something for visitors of all ages. Carpooling and bringing your own flashlight are encouraged. This is an accessible program, although there is an incline on the paved pathway to the telescopes.
