Keyboard Conversations ®️ with Jeffrey Siegel | Beethoven—The Young Genius

About the Event Discover the genius of a young Beethoven through the beloved, passionate Sonata Pathetique the high-spirited, humorous Rage Over a Lost Penny and the deeply moving “Largo e Mesto,” from the early Sonata op. 10 no. 3. Keyboard Conversations® are brilliantly polished concerts with commentary, combining captivating details about legendary composers and their compositions with dynamic performances of piano masterpieces. Each concert concludes with a lively Q&A. New listeners discover an informal, entertaining, and instantly accessible introduction to the vast repertoire of the piano and to classical music in general. Seasoned music lovers experience an enriched, more focused listening experience. In 2025–26, the Scottsdale series marks its forty-seventh season, and the Chicago series celebrates its fifty-seventh. About the Artist American pianist Jeffrey Siegel has been soloist with the world’s great orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Moscow State Symphony, Amsterdam’s Concertgebow, NHK Symphony of Japan, and all the major orchestras of London, in addition to domestic engagements with the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Siegel has collaborated with many of the pre-eminent conductors of our time, as well as legendary maestros of the past. A passionate communicator and performer, Siegel has presented Keyboard Conversations for nearly six decades. His numerous albums are available on CD, and his Keyboard Conversations®: Piano Treasures, a Time Life production that has been broadcast by PBS to more than 150 cities, is available on DVD. Born into a musical family, Siegel studied with Rudolf Ganz in his native Chicago, with the legendary Rosina Lhévinne at The Juilliard School, and, as a Fulbright Scholar, with Ilona Kabos in London. Siegel and his wife live in New York City.
