This presentation will explore the hidden, often unaccounted experiences, of Black Professionals in Contemporary America. Recognizing that America is composed of multiple groups within the African Diasporic community, this presentation will explore some of the nuances surrounding identity, family relationships, and mentorship. Contextually, both micro and macro societal factors have helped shape and redefine elements of the Black experience in the western hemisphere, and more specifically, in America.This presentation will explore the hidden, often unaccounted experiences, of Black Professionals in Contemporary America. Recognizing that America is composed of multiple groups within the African Diasporic community, this presentation will explore some of the nuances surrounding identity, family relationships, and mentorship. Contextually, both micro and macro societal factors have helped shape and redefine elements of the Black experience in the western hemisphere, and more specifically, in America.Duane A. Williams serves as the Director for the Center for Leadership and Engagement at Montclair State University, New Jersey. In this role he spearheads a broad range of programs and activities that support student persistence and achievement. Prior to Montclair State University, Mr. Williams had served as a Director in the Center for Advisement and Student Success at Hudson County Community College, New Jersey. There, he was able to develop a comprehensive understanding for the non-traditional and first-generation student population. Being a first-generation student himself, Mr. Williams has enjoyed working on initiatives that directly and indirectly affect the success and retention of students during their college years.Mr. Williams is a doctoral candidate in the Ph.D. in Family Science and Human Development at Montclair State University. His research interests involve the experiences of Black, African American, and Afro-Caribbean first-generation college students and professionals; Individuals who are the first in their family to attain a college education and experience difficulty navigating a balance between family, identity and life during and after college.

Michael Alampi Sunday, February 13th, 2pm -3pm Michael Alampi is a multifaceted musician, having studied in London at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was a winner of the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition and recipient of Jo Weinburg Award.  He also studied at Mannes School of Music and Manhattan School of Music.  He has appeared in concerts and recitals at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and others. There will be a limited amount of seats available for this performance and only to registered guests. Please reserve a seat (link coming soon). Proof of Covid-19 vaccination and a photo ID must be presented at check in for admittance. The concert is free. Suggested donation: $10

Begin your week with mindful vinyasa yoga led by our experienced instructor via Zoom. We flow between postures at a slow to moderate pace, focusing on building strength in body and mind. This class welcomes all levels from beginner to experienced yogis.  January 10th January 24th January 31st February 7th February 14th February 28th (no class January 17th or February 21st) Registration for Virtual Yoga is required by the Friday prior to each class. Meetings are held at the Library located at 92 Hathaway St in Wallington and begin at 5:00pm.​Please check our website to determine the status of upcoming meetings and for meeting agendas. The Board reserves the right to suspend the July and/or August and December meetings.All Library Board meetings are open to the pubic and all are welcome to attend.
