Join us on the 3rd Saturday of each month for our Open Mic Night at Rest Stop Rejuvenate at 21 Maple Ave. Rockaway NJ presented by LIFE Center Stage. Rest Stop Rejuvenate is a supportive space to perform your music poems stories and more. We offer a comfortable living room environment giving our Open Mic a home concert feel. Sign Ups start at 7:30 pm Open Mic Begins at 8 pm. Each performer on the sign-up sheet gets 10 minutes - approximately 2 songs or 3 poems. We provide a professional sound system 2 microphones & mic stands 3 guitar cables an electric piano a full drum kit as well as a music stand to hold lyrics or poems. (see below for more info) Need accompaniment? Bring copies of sheet music or lyric/chord sheets and our house musicians or regular open mic performers can accompany you. Not a performer? Please come and listen. All are welcome to attend. Open Mic hosted by Anna Toby and Eric Gross Sign-up/Doors Open 7:30pm Open Mic begins at 8 pm $10.00 Admission includes Refreshments ------------------------- What We Provide: We provide a professional quality PA System & mixing board 2 microphones & mic stands 3 guitar cables an electric piano a full drum kit as well as a music stand to hold lyrics or poems. (see below for more info) To allow more time for performances we request that you use our gear and not bring any of the following: drum kits keyboards or amplifiers. ------------------------- Guidelines: Please tune instruments prior to stepping on the stage. Please have all your special effect pedals and cables hooked up prior to your performance so all we have to do is plug your end cable (1/4” or XLR) into the soundboard. This will speed up the transition between performers. Please be courteous and supportive of all performers. This is a "listening room." therefore there is no talking during performances. Madison Public Library and The Adult School are pleased to have speaker Vincent Bruno for a special lecture series on the Beatles, the legendary rock group that transformed opoular music and became one of themost popular bands of all times. This series of lectures will focus on: The Making of Sgt. Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour, White Album, Let it Be and Abbey Road. Vincent will also discuss the solo years of the band members. Presented by Louis Barrella, opera aficionado, this program allows participants to experience the operatic and choreographic enhancement of dramatic scenes that tell a similar, if not same story. In the process, one will gain an appreciation of the opera and ballet composer s genius, as he/she adds the wonderful dimension of very appropriate music to the drama at hand. Film examples will include “Romeo and Juliet” by Zeffirelli, “Camille” starring Greta Garbo and “A Tale of Two Cities” with Ronald Coleman to coincide with Gounod s Opera and Prokofiev s Ballet, Verdi s “La Traviata” and Giordani s “Andrea Chenier”, among others. Lou has been a dedicated Music Educator for over 40 years, specializing in Music and Opera Appreciation in schools and for many Cultural Organizations. Most importantly, he has given workshops and organized student trips for the Education Department of the Metropolitan Opera for 35 years and continues to do so.
