Former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez pursued his dream of space travel since high school. Growing up in a migrant farming family, he worked tirelessly before earning a degree in electrical engineering. Hernandez excelled at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, contributing to advancements in medical imaging and nuclear non-proliferation efforts. Meeting his inspiration during the astronaut application process boosted his confidence, leading to his eventual selection and a biopic, "A Million Miles Away", detailing his journey. This event is FREE and open to the public with priority seating given to UTRGV students, staff and faculty with a valid UTRGV ID. The doors will open at 7:00 PM to UTRGV staff, faculty and students then to the community at 7:15 PM. Eligible SBA 8(a) participant businesses can now work with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to access federally owned surplus personal property through the donation program. Eligible 8(a) certified firms may obtain federal surplus property from the State Agencies for Surplus Property (SASP) in the state where the property will be primarily located and placed in use.
