SummerArtsWeek 1: August 1 – 5Week 2: August 8 – 12Week 3: August 15 – 19Week 4: August 22 – 26TIME: Monday – Friday 9:00 – 3:00 Register for SummerArts hereChannel your kids’ energy into the arts this summer! SummerArts offers four weeks of multi–arts workshops for children entering grades 3-9. Each week, students take part in a wide variety of artistic activities with daily sessions in visual arts, music and movement/theater, led by teaching artists who are experts in their field. In between classes kids can play outside, spend time with friends or work on a project at their own pace. Workshops for older students are more intensive and provide an opportunity for more sophisticated exploration and execution. The SummerArts program is specially designed  to provide kids with a deeply creative, artistic experience.  Themes and activities vary each week, giving students the chance to explore art in many forms and diverse media. Many campers are introduced to new artistic expressions and media that they never knew they loved!  Classes are perfect for beginners as well as more seasoned creators.   For more information, please email the Director: summerarts@riverarts.org #SummerArts

Drink & Draw Hastings Public LibraryOrr Room, Lower level 7 Maple AvenueHastings-on-Hudson Admission: $20 per session Register below. You must register and pay in advance below for each session. No payments will be accepted at the door.  Drink & Draw is a modern twist on the classic artistic practice of life drawing. Artists of all experience levels and backgrounds are welcome, especially those that have always wanted to try their hand.  In this non-instructional event, we aim to create a relaxing, social and inclusive environment for the community to come together for a fun night of drawing.  After some mingling with fellow guests, participants will have an opportunity to capture the human body in poses of different lengths, with breaks for refreshments in between.   There’s wine, crackers, cheese and cookies to enjoy, and our host curates a playlist to keep your energy flowing.  The evening lasts about 2 ½ hours, and participants leave with a collection of their new works… and maybe some new friends too. RiverArts is proud to be able to provide this unique opportunity right here in our Rivertowns, an opportunity which is often only accessible to art students or by traveling into New York City, with a significant investment of time and tuition.  Drink & Draw offers a perfect entry-level for the amateur artist, and we have seen beginners improve significantly as their skills develop in subsequent sessions and they draw on their experience and learn from others.   Model provided. Please bring your own art supplies and arrive on time. Must be over 18 to attend. Wine for those 21+ FOR MORE INFORMATION EMAIL: jriesman@riverarts.org #DrinkAndDraw Fill out my Wufoo form!

Out of an abundance of caution and in light of COVID-19 we have implemented new  safety guidelines  for our public shredder events in order to ensure the health and safety of residents and staff.Residents can bring up to 4 file-size (10”x12”x15”) boxes of confidential papers per household to Mount Vernon from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for shredding.  Please remove all large binder clips and covers.  Papers from businesses institutions or commercial enterprises are not acceptable and will be rejected as will any junk mail or newspapers.First come first served Service at the events works on a first-come-first-served basis as the Mobile Shredder unit can reach its maximum capacity before closing time.  In extreme weather events may be cancelled or terminated early.  Important information  It is important to be aware of what you place the paper to be shredded no matches lighters or anything combustible. Staff at the events will be checking the material prior to being shredded.  Please call the county's Recycling Helpline at (914) 813-5425 to check on a cancellation or early closure.Kinds of documents to shred Remember it's best to shred documents you're no longer using that contain personal identifying information such as name address phone number credit card number or social security number. Such documents should be shredded before they are thrown out for recycling. Some examples are: - expired credit card statements and receipts - old tax returns or any other personal documents containing you name address or other identifying information. - pre-approved credit card applications - licensesAs this service is gaining in popularity residents should be prepared to wait as lines are sometimes long. However the wait doesn't have to be that long. Come prepared. This means you've removed all metal clips fasteners binders folders and hard covers and placed the papers loosely in a box. Hard covers – cardboard or plastic covers on items such as ledger books marble composition books and hard-cover books – cannot be shredded and will be turned away. Residents must rip pages out from hard cover books for shredding and throw the covers in their regular household trash. Up to four boxes of papers are allowed for shredding. For more information about identity theft call the Dept. of Consumer Protection (914) 995-2155.
