The Atlanta Botanical Garden is home to one of the largest orchid collections at any public garden in the world. All year, countless orchids are displayed in two specific climate zones inside the Fuqua Orchid Center: the Tropical High Elevation House and the Orchid Display House. Atlanta Botanical Garden

Orchid Daze, the Garden’s annual indoor plant exhibition, celebrates the vibrant presence of orchids in the contemporary gardens of Latin America Feb. 1 – April 12. Across Latin America are many spectacular artists’ gardens. Orchid Daze draws its inspiration from the works of Luis Barragán, one of Mexico’s greatest and most original artists. Educated as an engineer, he became one of the most influential modernist architects of the 20th century. The Atlanta Botanical Garden is home to one of the largest orchid collections at any public garden in the world. All year, countless orchids are displayed in two specific climate zones inside the Fuqua Orchid Center: the Tropical High Elevation House and the Orchid Display House. Some are brought from on-site greenhouses for display while in bloom. Others are permanently installed to illustrate a more naturalistic growth on trees and structures.

Thursday, April 9 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am

Heritage Sandy Springs Museum & Park

The Heritage Sandy Springs Museum now has expanded hours and guided tours to make it even easier to celebrate local history! Public hours are Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We are also offering guided tours which include additional information about the entire historic Heritage Green site. Children’s tours are held on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Guided tours are $5 per person and last about an hour. No reservations required. Encompassing the Williams-Payne House Heritage Green and its historic structures the “Our Heritage” Tour for adults will invite you to learn the history of our community by tracing our history through some of the oldest standing structures in the city. This tour begins in front of the museum and walks around nearly 2 acres of our campus. ******************************************************************* The Heritage Sandy Springs Museum is located in the re-purposed Williams-Payne House named for the Williams family who built the house and farmed the land from the late 1860s until 1939 at which time the Paynes purchased the home. Originally located on the present-day corner of Mount Vernon Highway and State Route 400 the house was moved to Heritage Green in 1985. From 1989 to 2009 the house operated as a historic house museum which reflected what life would have been like in rural Sandy Springs in the 1860s. In 2009 initiatives began to convert the house to a history museum housing changing exhibits that reflect our history and culture. Further renovations were completed in 2018 with five galleries dedicated to sharing the history art and culture of Sandy Springs. For more information visit the Museum tab at www.heritagesandysprings.org.
