Don't be a tool! Learn to use one in this practical class for new homeowners, kids ages 14 and up, as well as, female beginners. We've brought in experts to teach you how to do the basics for your home yourself. They will give you the need to know information and show you some tricks along the way. Our local experts will help you become more confident to safely and effectively participate in maintaining your home with skills in dry wall repair (April 16th), electrical (April 18th), plumbing (April 23rd), and HVAC (April 25th); saving you money to keep you from calling a contractor for some of the basic repairs. Purchase all 4 classes for $100 or $30 per class April 16th - Tools/Safety/Drywall Repair/Locating a Stud/Anchoring: This class will walk you through the basic must-have tools for homeowners, from hand tools to power tools and other essentials, to keep a smooth-running home. Knowing how to patch and repair drywall is often a top concern when preparing for a move. Drywall is vulnerable to cracks, dents and holes, but you can easily repair it with drywall joint compound and a little sanding and painting. This guide teaches you how to do a drywall repair for both dents and small holes in the wall. From hanging heavy mirrors to mounting TV's to installing shelves and anchoring furniture, there are plenty of home projects that require you to locate wall stud. We'll give some tips and tricks that make that an easier process. April 18th - Electrical Basics: You will learn how electricity works, the safety measures required before doing any type of work yourself, and when to call in a pro. We cover troubleshooting problems, plus changing out fixtures, swtiches and outlets, installing a GFCI, and replacing a plug on a lamp. April 23rd - Plumbing Basics: Understand your home's water supply and drainage system, identify problems and assess the DIY vs. Professional question. Topics will include: common toilet problems and how to fix them, ways to prevent pipes from freezing in winter, how to unclog a kitchen sink, and repairing a dripping faucet-when to repair or replace. April 25th - HVAC Basics: Life expectancy, filters, clean AC coils, clean condensate drain, and flush water heater. Questions to ask when choosing HVAC service providers.

Hunger Relief is an important part of First Presbyterian’s mission in our community. Each month your generosity makes a real difference to hundreds of people who depend on the food banks the church supports at Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, East Wayne Street Center, and United Faith Presbyterian Church.  This month we will be collecting food at the 11:00 service on Sunday, April 21st.  Food items may also be left at the church office during the week.  Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated.  Please specify your donation is for Hunger Relief. The following items are especially needed:  Spaghetti noodles, corn flakes or crispy rice cereal, boxed macaroni and cheese, canned fruit in juice (peaches, pears, or fruit cocktail), canned green beans, spaghetti sauce—any variety (cans only), Manwich. Thank you so much for your participation in this important church ministry. Thank you also to everyone for making this year’s Lenten Fish and Loaves collection a great success.  Over 200 cans of tuna and salmon and nearly 50 boxes or bags of crackers plus boxes of tuna helper were distributed to the local food banks.  All were greatly appreciated.
