Men’s Bible Study: The Men’s Bible study meets Fridays from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM. They are currently studying the period after the Exile in Israel’s history, focusing on the books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther. As a supplementary text, we will also read assigned portions each week from John Bright’s The History of Israel. The Bible study will be conducted by having everyone read the assigned passages in advance and then sharing their reflections together. They are currently studying the period after the Exile in Israel’s history, focusing on the books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther. Alan Larkin received his BA in art from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, in 1975 and his MFA in printmaking from the Pennsylvania State University in 1977. Though recently retired, he taught drawing and printmaking for almost forty years in Indiana University South Bend. He is the recipient of numerous prizes in regional, national, and international competitions for his artwork, including the prestigious Founder's Award in the 2016 Pastel 100 Competition sponsored by the Pastel Journal and the Best of Show Award at the 75th and 91st Annual Hoosier Salan Exhibition in Indianapolis. He is our visiting artist who will teach the art of copper plate aquatint. Each student will come away with a prepared, one-of-a-kind picture and learn a new skill and hobby!
