Every year, many thousands of babies are born in the U.S. with intermediate genitals. Most receive genital reconstructive surgery under current best practice standards of care, despite the advocacy of intersex adults against such infant genital surgeries. The aim of a best practice standard being articulated is to guide medical professionals to treat patients with the same condition consistently and well. But in the case of sex-variant infants, children born with the same phalloclitoral anatomy receive wildly different tests, diagnoses, and treatments. This talk will explore these inconsistencies, seek to explain why they emerge, and consider the impacts on the lives of sex-variant individuals."

Contemporary dance company A.I.M by Kyle Abraham is celebrated as one of the most consistently excellent troupes working today by The New York Times, and we most certainly agree. Led by MacArthur Genius and Purchase College alum Kyle Abraham, A.I.M returns to The Purchase PAC with a repertory program that showcases his brilliance as an Artistic Director who is constantly innovating the industry. He will serve us his signature "postmodern gumbo"- a blend of modern dance styles ranging from ballet to hip hop, seasoned with human stories and social commentary. The mission of A.I.M by Kyle Abraham is to create a body of dance-based work that is galvanized by Black culture and history. The work, informed by and made in conjunction with artists across a range of disciplines, entwines a sensual and provocative vocabulary with a strong emphasis on music, text, video, and visual art. While grounded in choreographer Kyle Abraham's artistic vision, A.I.M draws inspiration from a multitude of sources and movement styles.

Join us at the Museum for coffee, pastries, and incredible art during this retrospective of the Museum's first half-century. All are welcome! This is a free event but advance registration is requested. REGISTER FOR THE OPEN HOUSE About the Exhibition The multi-part exhibition entitled TheMaking of a Museum: 50 Years features four distinct projects. Each tells a part of the compelling story of how the Neuberger became one of the country's most respected and important academic museums. The Founding tells the story of the inception of the Museum. The Promised Gift tells the story of Roy R. Neuberger's 1969 grand and optimistic philanthropic contribution, a gift of 300 works of art to the State University of New York. Threnody is a 250-foot-wide site-specific painting created by American artist Cleve Gray for the opening of the Neuberger Museum of Art. 1974—2024 is a multi-media installation that tells the story of the years from the time of the formal opening of the Museum to the present. The Making of a Museum: 50 Yearsstories, exhibitions, and public programs have been organized by the staff of the Neuberger Museum of Art. Generous financial support for this exhibition has been provided by ArtsWestchester, with funding made possible by Westchester County government with the support of County Executive George Latimer; the Purchase College Foundation; and the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art. Additional support for Neuberger Museum of Art exhibitions and programs has been provided by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
