The Dali Museum
In the exhibition Van Gogh Alive, Dalí Museum visitors have the opportunity to literally step into Van Gogh’s art through a dynamic multimedia experience. But how else can we enter Vincent’s world? In this talk, art historian Sheramy Bundrick discusses some of the exciting ways modern scholars seek to understand this incredibly famous yet enigmatic artist better: through new study of primary sources, innovations in technology, and the artworks themselves. She also shares her experiences as a historical novelist and author of Sunflowers: A Novel of Vincent Van Gogh (HarperCollins, 2009), where telling a story meant looking at Vincent in a whole new way. The Museum is partnering with Tombolo Books to offer copies of Bundrick’s novel, including copies signed by the author. Location: Will Raymund Theater (and live on YouTube) The cost to attend this event is free with purchase of a General Admission ticket to the Museum. It will also be streamed live on our YouTube channel.

Prepare for a youth takeover! SOUL Sisters Leadership Collective will host the discussion following our screening of The Hate U Give. Prepare for a youth takeover! For Black History Month, SFPoC’s Unity360 Critical Race Film Series will be taken over by the young leaders of SOUL Sisters Leadership Collective , who will host the discussion following our screening of The Hate U Give. Based on the award-winning YA novel by Angie Thomas, The Hate U Give was one of 2018’s most anticipated teen films and tells the story of 16 year-old Starr, a girl caught between the starkly different worlds of her economically disadvantaged neighborhood and the far-removed, predominately white private prep school that she attends. When she witnesses the murder of her childhood friend by police, Starr’s world will never be the same. Don’t miss this chance to hear the insight from our local young leaders, who themselves have been impacted by “the inequalities of our legal, educational, and economic systems.”

All are welcome to join: www.stpetegreenhouse.com/calendar Nonprofit organizations are addressing the world's greatest social environmental and economic challenges. In Pinellas County the number one capacity-related concern for nonprofits outside of funding is organizational relationship and networks according to a 2018 study conducted by the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg. Nonprofit Connect will be a monthly event designed to connect nonprofit organizations in the St. Petersburg community while driving innovation and sustainability through collaborative content sessions. As the Greenhouse continues to expand our offerings to meet the needs of our clients we've heard a loud request for more programming specifically crafted for our nonprofit community. We are pleased to announce that starting in March we will be offering Nonprofit Connect. The inaugural session is designed to be exploratory in nature - we need your input to shape the most effective programming for you. The purpose of the Nonprofit Connect: 1. Give nonprofit leaders a place to gather and learn. Provide topics for discussion as well as the opportunity for informal networking. 2. Encourage the inclusion of nonprofit organizations in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of St Petersburg. 3. Strengthen the nonprofit community by encouraging collaboration between organizations and with the government and for-profit sectors. After living in a pandemic for a year, you deserve these precious moments of beauty and peace, all wrapped up in one concert conducted by Michael Francis. It starts with Ahmed Alabaca’s Across the Calm Waters of Heaven – A Piece for Peace, which the composer says “captures the inextinguishable spark of human goodness, our unfathomable capacity to give and receive love, that burns brightly in the souls of all humanity.” Albinoni’s lovely Concerto for Oboe No. 2 features soloist Mitchell Kuhn. For On the Nature of Daylight, composer Max Richter creates a “sense of luminosity and brightness but made from the darkest possible materials.” For the finale, don’t be surprised if Barber’s Adagio for Strings brings tears to your eyes, but in the best way. Michael Francis, conductor Mitchell Kuhn, oboe Ahmed Alabaca: Across the Calm Waters of Heaven – A Piece for Peace Tomaso Albinoni: Concerto for Oboe No. 2 Max Richter: On the Nature of Daylight Vaughan Williams: Variations on a Theme by Thomas Tallis Barber: Adagio for Strings

Sax man Jeremy Carter always finds the sweet spot between Jazz and Soul. His Soul of Jazz concerts at the Palladium have been consistent sell-outs and audience favorites. For Palladium Live Jeremy brings his newly formed Rubber Band to the gig. Featuring two keyboard players and a powerful rhythm section Jeremy ‘s band always finds the grooves. The concert includes songs by artists like artist like Stevie Wonder Bee Gees Herbie Hancock and many more. Says Carter The Rubber Band creates space for his musicians to be artistically free in a groove context. Like rubber the form allows the songs and the musicians to expand change and even stretch out. TFO’s Robert Smith reveals the pure beauty of the trumpet in Haydn’s great Trumpet Concerto. At the time, Haydn was excited to compose for a newfangled “keyed” trumpet – which long ago gave way to the modern valve instrument. We glimpse the origin story of Beethoven in his Symphony No. 1, which plants the seeds of the musical evolution to come. The program starts with Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s Overture, her only surviving work that is for orchestra alone. Even though she was Felix Mendelssohn’s older sister, this work went unpublished in her lifetime and long after, like so many other women composers of the day.
