Learn more about water and what lives in it! Crystal Hartman, from UF’s Fishing For Success program, will lead our adventure as we come face to face with some amazing aquatic invertebrates and fishes. This camp is water-based so wear appropriate footwear and clothes that can get dirty or wet! We will be heading outdoors to explore the University of Florida Natural Area Teaching Laboratory. We’re hosting weekend Family Discovery Camps this July. Explore the natural world with scientists and Museum staff in this outdoor experience for the whole family. Discover how scientists work in the field and learn how to use the tools of science yourself. Camps are designed for children in grades K-6 and their family. Pre-registration is required and closes on August 4. If you registered for this event when it was planned for July 10, you have been sent an email to confirm the new date. Contact our event organizer if you did not receive this. Join us for a morning at the Museum for adults and children on the autism spectrum and their friends, families and caregivers. The Museum will be open from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for visitors to explore at their own pace in a peaceful and less-crowded environment. In addition, a separate quiet space will be available to decompress or desensitize, if needed. While this event is designed as a sensory friendly event for  members of the autism spectrum disorder community, anyone with special needs is invited to attend! Event includesAccess to the permanent natural history exhibits and Discovery ZoneSensory maps with rules and expectationsQuiet area in a Museum classroomVolunteers and staff in the exhibits to provide assistanceTablers with resources from UF’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD)While the event activities are free, there is an admission charge for the Survival of the Slowest exhibit. The Butterfly Rainforest exhibit will be closed that morning and open at 1 p.m.
