We are pleased to welcome Mark Lamping, President and CEO of the Jacksonville Jaguars as our keynote speaker for the August 13, 2021 EDC Quarterly Breakfast. Currently in his 27th year as an executive in professional sports, Lamping has led the Jaguar’s business operation since joining the team in 2012.  Formerly with the NFL's New York Giants and Major League Baseball's St. Louis Cardinals, Lamping also served as a marketing executive with Anheuser Busch for more than a decade. In person attendance is limited and pre-registration is required.  The Chamber is following the current CDC guidelines regarding gathering in indoor and outdoor spaces. In addition, the Chamber is following the guidelines set by the host facility for this event.  The mission of the Economic Development Council is to promote St. Johns County as an ideal business location and to encourage businesses, both large and small, to expand and relocate within St. Johns County. EDC activities and events are designed to support the success of both new and existing businesses in St. Johns County. We offer resources to businesses and support start-up ventures by providing information and connectivity to a variety of local resources.

Update On Current Issues In St. Johns County SJC Commission Chairman Jeremiah Blocker  Jeremiah Blocker was born and raised in Ocala, Florida, and is a sixth-generation Floridian. Public service is important to his family with his father, uncle, and all four brothers having served as combat veterans in the Armed Forces. As a veteran, Jeremiah served as an Army officer for over 13 years, both on active duty and in the reserves. A veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Jeremiah commanded a Military Police company. In addition to his Army service, Jeremiah served as a Judge Advocate General officer in the Air Force Reserve in the position of Staff Judge Advocate for Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida. He continues his military service in the Florida Army National Guard as a Judge Advocate General officer with the rank of Major. As a decorated combat veteran, some major awards Jeremiah has received include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf devices, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, and the Combat Action Badge. In addition to a law degree, Jeremiah has a graduate degree in Business Entrepreneurship from the University of Florida and graduate degree in Military History from Norwich University in Vermont. Before transitioning into private practice, Jeremiah served as a state prosecutor in Jacksonville, Florida, and later in the Seventh Judicial Circuit. Currently, Jeremiah is a partner in a small law firm, where he concentrates on assisting small businesses and veterans. Experienced in nonprofit leadership, Jeremiah serves as the executive director for a national nonprofit serving the needs of disabled combat veterans.

Athens, Georgia based Sylvia Rose Novak grew up on music as varied as Jazz, Grunge and Emo – then found a career in the Folk-Americana scene.
