About Us
The New Rochelle Council on the Arts was created by the New Rochelle City Council in 1975 to stimulate and encourage the study and presentation of the performing and fine arts; for 40 years NRCA has worked to fulfill that mission by supporting and sponsoring art exhibitions, theatrical productions, dance recitals, film screenings, lectures, poetry readings and concert series. Over the years NRCA has facilitated collaboration among arts organizations, sponsored public art, created a website calendar, and helped build relationships between the arts, the business community and city government. NRCA’s most recent projects include new public art (murals downtown, a mosaic bench at the Ward Acres community garden and the fleur-de-lis sculptures); the Rotunda Gallery at City Hall, providing much-needed exhibition space for artists; the Emile Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series, bringing free weekly concerts to Hudson Park every July and August, and ArtsFest, a celebration of the arts in New Rochelle and Pelham every September.
