About Us
The Beacon Fire Chapter DAR was founded in Summit, NJ in December, 1922. The chapter takes its name from the signal fire atop a hill "about a mile southeast of Chatham Bridge" during the American Revolutionary War. The hill became known as Beacon Hill. For 93 years, the chapter has worked in the local community to advance the DAR objectives of preserving history, providing education, and promoting patriotism.
